Harnessing the Internet as a Powerful Tool for Local Communities

Asset-Based Community Development Using the Internet, grassroots leaders have a unique opportunity to engage in a dialogue about the work they are doing and to share resources. The Internet offers access to a wide world of information and links people working throughout the state. Data and expertise are exchanged remotely, but because of the regularity of the interaction and the relationships that have been established, Internet users can feel connected—not so distant or disenfranchised. The Internet not only democratizes information, but is a bazaar, a center of exchange, for the community.

Through information-sharing and interactive work, you will build your confidence and expertise in harnessing the power of the Internet. By the end of the training, you will have the knowledge to start up your own learning community and access important resources.

Agenda Highlights:

  • The Internet as a Powerful Communication Tool
  • The Internet as an Advocate’s Tool
  • The Internet as a Tool for Researching Reliable (Health)
