WHL Special Projects
With a vast statewide network of grassroots
leaders and a respected leadership development and capacity building
model, Women's Health Leadership is well-positioned to influence
women's health programs and policies through a broad array of strategies
and initiatives.
WHL-Sacramento is the
newest project of the network. A local replication of the statewide
program, WHL-Sacramento invites you and/or your colleagues to apply
for the 2008 program year. The deadline for applications is December
17, 2007. Download the program
description and application
form or call us at (916) 498-6960. We encourage you to pass
this information on to others.
In addition, utilizing the power and constituency
of the Alumni community, WHL has partnered
with a number of organizations to effect change in several health
and social justice issues. Special projects such as Leadership
Through Health and Technology, a partnership with the Community
Technology Foundation of California, and Women's
Choices, a collaboration with the California Healthcare Foundation,
create opportunities for WHL to mobilize the Alumni
Network around specific community concerns.
WHL's work with Johnson & Johnson and the University of California, San Francisco, affords a critical opportunity to provide support and capacity building to new leaders of non-profit organizations. WHL ACTION provides a venue to support the work of non-profit leaders who better represent the changing demographics of California so that they will be successful in leading the organizations of the future.
Each of these projects allows WHL to use the strengths and talents of the Alumni community and showcases WHL's connections and alliances with grassroots communities. In addition, WHL has provided consultation to other groups and organizations interested in doing leadership development work and/or enhancing their capacity to engage grassroots leaders in program and policy development. WHL's ability to mobilize and engage local communities towards health and social change is a hallmark of this important movement.
